THE FACES BEHIND VELVET VEIL

Velvet Veil is made up of two friends, Mollie Trainum and Elizabeth Flint.

Meet Mollie

I’m Mollie, and I enjoy walks at golden hour, watching shark movies and/or rom coms, baking cookies, and listening to podcasts. When I’m not behind the camera, you may find may me at the barn covered in horse hair or curled up with a good book and my greyhound, Jett. Halloween is my Christmas, I believe Pinterest is the superior form of social media, and that all food is just a vehicle for a good sauce. If you ask me to make you a playlist, I’ll probably love you forever.

I’m inspired by still life paintings, medieval and fantasy aesthetics, and the art nouveau movement. In the age of AI and with an infinite amount of content available to us, I believe in intentional creation and the rejection of mass produced art. True art is made by human beings. Art is our form of resistance, reminding us of the beauty in the world, centering us and grounding us. It’s a pure form of human connection. I hope everyone who sees my images feels that I have woven threads of myself, and threads of subjects, into my work.

My photography philosophy is that artistic relationships are reciprocal. I strive to capture the essence of who my clients are, and to capture someone’s true self, it requires them to be vulnerable. The key to creating a space where people feel comfortable is to be vulnerable yourself. That means being open to conversations about your own life, listening to others’ experiences and desires, and being trustworthy and empathetic. In each photography session, I give something of myself. When someone understands and appreciates my artistic vision, when they trust me to create something beautiful, I feel seen and accepted. I hope that I instill the same feeling within my clients.

Meet Elizabeth

I’m Elizabeth Flint. I am married to my best friend, and I am the parent of three amazing boys who are probably plotting to overthrow me as we speak. When I’m not busy trying to keep up with their boundless energy, you’ll find me embarking on epic quests in the world of Dungeons & Dragons.

When I’m not rolling dice and slaying imaginary dragons, I’m running ultra-marathons like a caffeine-fueled lunatic. My love for running long distances is only matched by my love for horror movies—because nothing says relaxation like watching a group of people make terrible life choices while I’m trying to ignore the blisters on my feet.

My photography is where all my passions converge. I capture the beauty in the bizarre and the charm in the creepy. If you see me lurking in the shadows with a camera, don’t worry—I’m just on a quest to frame the extraordinary, one hauntingly beautiful shot at a time.
